Sandberg Bluetooth Audio Link

[Item no. 450-01] Rev. 24.01.14

1 Introduction

With Sandberg Bluetooth Audio Link (referred to as the ¡°receiver¡±) you can wirelessly connect your mobile phone, PC, Playstation 3 or other audio device with built-in Bluetooth to an amplifier. Sandberg Bluetooth Audio Link simply connects to an AUX input on the amplifier and then wirelessly receives the music signal via Bluetooth. The built-in battery can be charged via USB and gives 12 hours¡¯ operating time and over 200 hours¡¯ standby. Can also be used with constant power via a USB charger/PC.

3.1 Charging

The receiver contains a rechargeable battery. We recommend that you charge it fully before using it the first time.

Connect the enclosed USB cable from the receiver¡¯s Micro USB port to a USB port on a PC, or a phone charger to a USB port, such as an AC adapter for iPhone.

While the battery is charging the LED indicator light up red. It takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge the battery. The LED indicator will turn off when the battery is fully charged.

When the receiver¡¯s battery power level is too low this will be shown with a short flash in the LED indicator and three short beeps every 20 seconds.

Note that if the receiver cannot be switched on or off, you may need to charge it before the MFB button reacts correctly again.

3.2 Comments about the built-in battery

Do not attempt to change or remove the battery from the receiver as both parts can be damaged by doing so.

The battery is recyclable and must be disposed of properly in your local recycling station.
Avoid overheating the battery by not exposing the receiver to extensive heat from other devices, direct sunlight or fire.

4 Connection

Connect the audio out cable jack (marked as no. 4 in figure 1) to the AUX input on an amplifier, PC speaker system, stereo system, in the car, etc. If necessary, use one of the two enclosed adapters for both Mini Jack female and 2xphono/RCA.

If it is question of a permanent setup, e.g. to the AUX input on the amplifier system in your living room, the best option is to have a permanently connected USB-AC adapter so that the receiver is constantly provided with 5V DC and there is no need to think of the battery.

6 Pairing with Bluetooth devices

To connect the receiver to the desired Bluetooth device, you need to activate ¡®pairing mode¡¯. Ensure that the receiver is switched off. Then hold down the MFB button for about 7-8 seconds until the LED indicator flashes red and blue alternately. The receiver is now in pairing mode for two minutes. If no pairing is made to a Bluetooth device, the receiver will automatically go back to standby mode.

When the receiver is activated in pairing mode, you must activate the pairing mode on the Bluetooth device you want to connect to the receiver. The procedure for this varies, so check the manual for the device in question for a detailed description of this.
The following guidelines generally apply for the pairing procedure:

  1. Place the receiver and Bluetooth device within a secure range of 2-3 metres.
  2. Activate the pairing function on the Bluetooth device, e.g. ¡°search for Bluetooth devices¡±.
  3. The name of the receiver will appear on the list with the name ¡°Sandberg Link¡±.
  4. If you are asked for a password or PIN code, use ¡°0000¡± (four times zero).
  5. Once the devices are connected, the blue LED will flash twice every 5 seconds.

NB:
When pairing is done for the first time, the devices will usually remember each other and connect automatically when they are switched on and within close range. On some mobile
phones you have to manually choose to transmit audio playback via Bluetooth. See the phone¡¯s manual for more details.

Each time the receiver is switched on, it will automatically attempt to connect to the last
connected device. If you want to connect a different Bluetooth device, turn off the Bluetooth
function on the first device. Then follow the pairing instructions for the new device as described above.
If the receiver does not connect to a Bluetooth device when you turn it on, press the MFB button twice and the receiver will automatically connect to the last connected device if it is available.
If the connection is lost between the devices when you move outside the range, it will automatically reconnect as soon as you move back into the range.
If your Bluetooth device uses Bluetooth version 2.1 or higher, there will be no need for a PIN code when pairing.
Note that your Bluetooth device must support Bluetooth with A2DP/AADP in order to work with this receiver.

7 Playback music

Once you have completed the above you will now be able to hear the music from your Bluetooth device in the connected speakers. With most players it is possible to press pause/play while the music is playing by briefly pressing the MFB button on the receiver.

The music will stop with any incoming phone calls. When you answer the phone the sound will come out of your speaker. But as the receiver is not considered to be a phone amplifier, there is no built-in microphone. We therefore recommend that you change to the handset during a phone call.
